When it comes to waste collection pricing, there are two key factors that influence the cost.
The first is your location. At Skip It, we cover all of London and classify areas into 3 distinct zones. Each zone carries a different price range because the time it takes for us to travel to and from your location is dependent on which zone you’re in.
The second factor that determines waste collection pricing is, of course, how much waste you need disposing of.
So that you can find the most convenient and cost-effective option for your needs, this article will help you determine whether Wait & Load or Skip Hire is the most suitable for your situation.
What is Wait & Load and how much does it cost?
Wait & Load is an alternative service to skip hire and, whilst not as well-known, it’s often what people really need rather than a whole skip.
So how does it work?
When you book a Wait & Load service with us, your friendly Skip It team will meet you on-site at a time that suits you and load your rubbish into a specially designed vehicle. They’ll do all the work – you won’t have to move a muscle.
Much more convenient than having a skip sat on your property for days on end, Skip It can make multiple trips, so you can have all your waste cleared in one day.
How much does it cost?
When it comes to waste collection pricing, Wait & Load could actually be a cheaper option than a skip. We can manage as much (or as little) waste as you need, and you only pay for what we take – there’s no risk of wasting money on a skip that’s half empty.
At Skip It, we use two different vehicles for our Wait & Load service. The smaller is a 14-yard Transit and the larger is an 18-yard 7.5-tonne vehicle. With both vehicles, prices are set according to the fraction of space your waste will fill in the vehicle. Whether you have a ¼ load, a ½ load, a ¾ load, or a full load, you’ll only pay for the space you use.
If you have just one large item you need us to take, such as a dishwasher or washing machine, there’s an option for this within our Wait & Load service, too. For further details on pricing and for help understanding how much space you’ll need, use our Make an Enquiry form.
What about Skip Hire?
If you don’t have anywhere to put your rubbish until we collect it, a skip could be a good way of managing the mess and keeping your waste contained. Skip Hire could also be the better option for those who aren’t sure how long their project is going to take. If you’d rather have a week, for example, to load your skip in your own time, skip hire could be a more convenient option.
We can deliver your skip within a day. We offer both short and long-term skip hire and take care of any necessary permits.
How much does it cost?
We offer skips in 4 different sizes, with prices starting from just £240. Needless to say, the bigger the skip, the higher the cost. Your location will also affect the price.
To give you an idea of what can fit inside each size skip:
• 6 yard skip (4.6 cubic metres) – 40 big black bin bags
• 8 yard skip (6 cubic metres) – 60 big black bin bags
• 10 yard skip (8.85 cubic metres) – 80 big black bin bags
• 12 yard skip (9.2 cubic metres) – 100 big black bin bags
